When you call, you don’t need to say a lot—just reiterate the main message of the petition, which is:
“Decoding Dyslexia Alabama is a grassroots movement by Alabama families to address the struggles we face in securing appropriate reading interventions for our children with dyslexia in Alabama public schools. We call on Alabama policy-makers to support students with dyslexia. It is time for Alabama Public Schools to catch up with the science on reading and dyslexia.”

About Decoding Dyslexia of Alabama: Our group is made up of parents of children who are dyslexic. We are not experts, nor are we a business or educational organization. We can only offer other parents the benefit of our collective experiences. We encourage parents to meet with their local policy-makers to tell the story of their child, and ask for policies and/or legislation to identify and support dyslexic children in our schools.
Follow Roundtable Solutions!
About Roundtable Solutions: Roundtable Solutions exists to spread awareness, encourage “out of the box” thinking, and create solutions for the special needs community. Join us! Roundtable Solutions is determined to spread awareness and information about special needs with parents, educators and the community. The group’s long term vision is to resource and equip special education families and educators with “out of the box thinking” and strength through prayer. The name “Roundtable Solutions” came from the idea that “everyone has an equal position at a round table.”

About Light It Up Red for 1in5: We are two small town mothers of dyslexic children in Alabama who have one goal: To raise awareness for dyslexia where we CAN. As some of you may know, October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. Last year, on October 15th, the tower in RSA Tower Park in Montgomery, AL was lit with red to raise awareness for dyslexia. This year it will be even bigger as RSA properties all across the great state of Alabama will be lit up as well! This is HUGE! But it doesn’t have to stop there. Together we can light the whole world up in red! We ask that you please join us and show YOUR support on October 15, 2014. Wear red shirts and/or replace your porch light with a red bulb! Please share this page and spread the word to everyone you know, not just in Alabama, but wherever you may be!!

“Dyslexia affects millions of Americans, including many students. We know that many with dyslexia are among our brightest and most successful. If dyslexia is identified in elementary school and the appropriate resources are given to these children, America can produce more teachers, more scientists and more entrepreneurs. This resolution pushes schools and educational agencies to address this challenge and provide evidence-based solutions for dyslexic students.”
Please click Cassidy House Dyslexia Resolution January 10 2014 to read the pdf version of the resolution H.RES.456.
Please contact your U.S. House of Representative and ask him/her to support the Dyslexia Resolution that Congressman Cassidy introduced in the House today and to join the Bipartisan Congressional Dyslexia Caucus.
Hopefully this will be the impetus for eventually enacting national dyslexia legislation.
